Houston Toolbank

The Houston ToolBank teamed up with BrandExtract to rejuvenate its online presence, aiming to enhance the reach of their Tool Lending Program and bolster support for community projects through a redesigned website. The new mobile-friendly platform needed to cater to the needs of nonprofit organizations seeking tools and local donors looking to contribute, focusing on ease of navigation for tool borrowing, donations, and volunteer sign-ups. Additionally, the upgraded site needed to be manageable for the ToolBank team, allowing them to effortlessly update content as needed.

Visual Differentiation

Our primary aim with the website was to capture and convey the emotional experience of volunteering at the tool bank - to depict the sense of fulfillment that comes from doing good in one’s community. To achieve this, our strategy was to create a visual narrative using only amateur photographs. We wanted to ensure these diverse images formed a unified and cohesive story. To connect them seamlessly, we incorporated design elements reminiscent of National Parks and Boy Scout merit badges. This approach not only helped to promote the values of community and volunteerism but also added a nostalgic and familiar feel that resonates with visitors.
